X’s approach to long-form content creation – Elon Musk is on a mission to position X as a primary source for news updates, promoting it as an alternative to mainstream media and claiming it as the only platform delivering truth directly from the public. How long-form content will be implemented on X
X has already extended post lengths to provide more context, and soon users will be able to publish articles directly on X in a new longer format, potentially with its own in-app feed. This includes a new “X articles” update, allowing dedicated blog posting with a custom link preview card in the X feed, reminiscent of the old Twitter link preview format.
These native hosted articles on X will be tagged as “X article” to indicate they are platform-hosted content. This mirrors Facebook’s retired “Instant Articles,” which were faster and visually appealing within the app but were phased out due to declining value.
Elon Musk and his team might use this new publishing option to attract more creators to X, possibly with revenue-sharing incentives. This aligns with Musk’s vision of making X a key news source, especially in the lead-up to the U.S. election, where he’s aligned with the Republican camp and aims to amplify political talking points.
